Serving the Comox Valley for almost 80 Years
Members of the Comox Valley have been supporting Glacier View Lodge since the 1940’s when the concept of creating a home for seniors was proposed by the North Island Women’s Institute. In the 1950’s community members built the original Glacier View Home and many ladies provided transport and meals for the builders. Our Auxiliary has its roots in these original volunteers.
On May 12, 1982, seven ladies commenced with a great deal of courage and hope to officially form the Auxiliary for the new Glacier View Lodge. The President was Nancy Franklin, whose husband was the first Chairman of the Board for the Glacier View Lodge Society. The first secretary was Marjie Durrant; she is still active on the Auxiliary today. The first Treasurer was Eileen Turnbull. She later served on the Board of Directors. The Comox and District Women’s Institute donated the start up budget of $495.53.
